Student Testimonials

Harp Student: "Zoe is a truly fantastic teacher. I am brand new to playing the harp and in the past 6 months I’ve been receiving lessons from her I have made significant progress and gained skills that bring me pride and confidence. Zoe takes a very holistic approach to teaching music and is always reminding me that playing an instrument is about patience. She reminds me to focus on my breath and encourages me to approach the process as an act of meditation. I look forward to continuing to grow as a musician in training and couldn’t ask for a better instructor along the way. Zoe is an incredibly accomplished singer, harpist and pianist, her extensive knowledge and expert instruction is invaluable. I feel blessed to have met her and am so glad that she offers her lessons to beginners like me." - Veronica, Greater Hartford, CT

Singing Student: "I have studied voice with Zoe for just six months, and in that time, the techniques of breathing and vocal production she has patiently taught me have led to a much more consistent and beautiful tone.   Her coaching on diction,  languages, and expression is impeccable."  - Margaret, Soprano Soloist, Classical, Stratford, CT

Singing Student: "When I came to Zoe a couple of months ago after a long hiatus from formal singing, my throat felt very tight--my range had gone down to just over an octave. A couple of months later, I can sing nearly three octaves, and my voice is more relaxed than ever. I've found my falsetto, and every week my voice is more resonant and free. Zoe is incredibly knowledgeable about the voice both from a technical and a practical perspective. In lessons, she is careful to differentiate among the things she tells me what is actually (physically) going on with my voice organs and what is merely a feeling or a metaphor she is using as a didactic tool. And that is just a small testament to her technical knowledge and the way she uses it with her students. It seems every hiccup I've encountered, she has either personally dealt with it (such as unlearning certain common but unhealthy vocal techniques) or has had students with the exact problem. In addition to her impressive resume and evident teaching ability, she has been very considerate and understanding with me, while maintaining high and professional standards for the quality and work she expects out of me. I cannot recommend Zoe highly enough."

Harp Student: "I would highly recommend Zoe as a harp teacher. Every lesson I have had has been approached with care and has been FULL of helpful information regarding technique, musicality, history and so much more. This has lead me to establish healthy habits and has facilitated more growth than I thought was possible in the months I have spent with her as my teacher. As someone with a degree in music who has had many instructors teach me various instruments I can say with confidence that the value of Zoe’s lessons is exceptional. She creates an environment that challenges you without judgement, allowing you to move at a pace you are comfortable with, without the risk of you ever getting bored. I look forward to my lesson every week and I am excited to see how much I will grow and improve going forward with Zoe as my harp teacher."
